Online Classes (work at your own pace)

A couple of my favourite Urban Sketchers have some great video classes on Craftsy. Yes, I am a craftsy affiliate (so, I do appreciate if you click through), but I absolutely love their styles and they are great teachers. I have recommended these classes to adults and children alike, and I’ve been told how valuable these have been for them. So go ahead and check them out.

Shari Blaukopf. She is a Montreal designer and artist and ardent Urban Sketcher. She helps co-lead the Montreal Urban Sketchers chapter and I fell in love with her style at first sight.

Marc Taro Holmes. I met Marc when he substituted as an instructor for a dynamic drawing class I was taking a few years back. He’s a little bit mesmerizing, but very approachable at the same time. After joining a couple outings with Urban Sketchers Montreal, with whom he is a co-coordinator with Shari and others, I asked him to come and sketch with a group of kids I was teaching at the time. He cheerfully obliged and was such a great a gentle guide for them; his passion for drawing contagious.  The kids were (and still are) very excited about urban sketching.

Stephanie Bower. Perspective lessons from a architect and watercolorist. I recently went through a course with her on Craftsy and found her to be a fabulous teacher. She presents things in a clear and easy to understand way. She makes drawing complex perspectives seem absolutely possible … and fun!
